The Archivist of the Society is required to retain custody of the all official documents relating to the incorporation of the Society and to receive, house, and to make available to researchers all genealogical donations.

 SCGS members and patrons are encouraged to use the holdings of the SCGS Archives during the above listed hours. Individuals, authors, and genealogical chapters are encouraged to make contributions to the SCGS Archives. A copy of publications nominated for the annual SCGS Publications Awards is deposited in the SCGS Archives. Doris G. A budget approved by the S.C.G.S. Board of Directors for the operation of the Archives. This budget will be used to better store and make available the various research materials in the S.C.G.S. Archives. Genealogical materials housed in the S.C.G.S. Archives are available during the hours the Hartsville Genealogical Research Library is open.  The Research Library is closed most holidays. Donations of family histories and genealogies, abstracts of state and county records, county histories and local history, church histories, etc. are gladly accepted.
