2019 SCGS Annual Meeting
The Charleston Chapter is hosting the SC Genealogical Society Annual Meeting in Charleston, October 11-12. In addition to two great days of genealogy-related events, you will receive a Charleston “goodie bag”, a free family day pass to Charles Towne Landing, and discounts to other places of interest (including a well-known Charleston shopping landmark).
On Friday, plan to attend one or both of our planned genealogy research opportunities. Experts at the SC Room (Charleston Library) and the SC Historical Society Archives (at Addlestone Library, College of Charleston) will explain what is available and offer guided tours of the facilities. You may also choose to go on self-guided field trips. On Friday evening at the host hotel, we will hear from Grahame Long, senior curator for The Charleston Museum. In addition to his work at the museum, he is involved in other Charleston historical organizations and has authored 3 books. You don’t want to miss his presentation!
On Saturday, we will join with the Family History Center in Charleston for their annual all-day workshop, where you can choose to attend 5 genealogy-related classes (from a list of about 25) and lunch is provided. The SCGS meeting will be held at the end of the day 3:15- 4:45.
All of this is included in the registration fee for the SCGS Annual Meeting conference. Come a day early (or stay an extra day) to enjoy other fun things to do in Charleston (see the special events list).
Full information and registration can be found on the Charleston Chapter website here.
